The Balcony of the Andes
Pisco Mountain 5,752 masl. It is a beautiful mountain known as the balcony of the Andes due to its privileged location in the heart of the Cordillera Blanca. It offers one of the most complete panoramic views of Huascarán, Chopicalqui, and Huandoy.
This comprehensive 5-day program includes acclimatization tours and Nevado Mateo to ensure perfect adaptation before reaching the summit of Pisco. The final ascent is demanding but rewarded with a unique glacier landscape.
Acclimatization and Ascent Timeline
HUARAZ TOURS - ROCUTOYOC LAGOON
Departure from Huaraz at 8:00 am to Rocutuyoc Lagoon (4450m). Visit the Vicos community, Cashapunta viewpoint, Ruripaccha waterfall, and glacier. A perfect day for cultural and natural acclimatization.
NEVADO MATEO (5150M) - ACCLIMATIZATION
Departure at 3:00 am to Punta Olímpica. A 2-hour ascent over rocks and 1 hour of glacier to the summit of Mateo. Ideal activity to start mountaineering and ensure optimal adaptation.
HUARAZ - CEBOLLAPAMPA (3900M) - PISCO BASE CAMP (4680M)
Transfer to Cebollapampa and start of the ascent to Pisco base camp at 4680m. A 4 to 5-hour uphill hike.
BASE CAMP (4680M) – PISCO SUMMIT (5752M)
Summit push at 1:00 am. 3 hours of moraine and rocks followed by 3 to 4 hours of glacier. From the top, we will enjoy the most famous mountains of the Cordillera Blanca.
BASE CAMP (4680M) – HUARAZ (3100M)
Final descent back to Cebollapampa where our transport waits for the return to Huaraz city.
