The North Face
Considered the most spectacular route for photographers and mountaineers, Los Cedros allows you to circle Alpamayo to contemplate its perfect pyramid from angles inaccessible in other routes.
Detailed Itinerary
ORIGIN COUNTRY TO LIMA (161 MASL) – HUARAZ (3100 M)
Arrival in Lima and transfer to Huaraz by bus (8 hours) or flight (50 min). Reception and hotel transfer. Acclimatization is recommended.
ACCLIMATIZATION: ROCUTOYOC LAGOON (4450 MASL)
Visit Cashapunta lookout, Ruripaccha waterfall, and hike to Ruripaccha glacier (4650m). Return to Huaraz.
HUARAZ (3100) – VAQUERIA – PARIA (3900 MASL)
Transfer passing through Portachuelo pass (4760m). Start of trek in Vaquería to Paria camp.
TUCTU (4200 MASL) - HUECRUNCOCHA (3850 MASL)
Ascent to Pukaraju pass (4,650 masl) with views of Taulliraju peaks. Descent to Huecruncocha camp.
HUECRUNCOCHA (3850 MASL) – JANCAPAMPA (3700 MASL)
Hike through Quisuar valley and cross Tupa Tupa pass (4,400 masl). Arrival in Jancapampa (Conchucos side).
JANCAPAMPA (3700 MASL) – WILCA (4150 MASL)
Technical ascent through bushes to Yanacon pass (4,600 masl). Descent to Wilca camp.
WILLCA (4200 MASL) – JANCARURISH (4250 MASL)
Ascent through Tayapampa canyon to Cara Cara pass (4,800 masl). Spectacular views of Alpamayo North Face.
JANCARURISH (4250 MASL) - OSORURI (4,380 MASL)
Hike through Los Cedros canyon and ascent to Vientunan pass (4,790 masl). Balcony camp at Osoruri.
OSORURI (4380 MASL) – HUISHCASH (4100 MASL)
Crossing Toropishtanan pass (4,850 masl). Views of Santa Cruz peaks and Cullicocha lagoon.
HUISHCASH (4100 MASL) – HUALCAYAN (3000 MASL) – HUARAZ
Final zigzag descent to Hualcayan village. Transfer back to Huaraz city.
TRANSFER TO TERMINAL OR AIRPORT
Transfer from hotel based on your departure schedule. End of services.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: This route crosses 7 high mountain passes above 4400m. Excellent physical condition and previous multi-day trekking experience are required.
