Considered one of the most beautiful treks in the world, the Santa Cruz offers unmatched views of the Alpamayo peak and crosses the emblematic Punta Union pass at 4,750 meters.
Detailed Itinerary
ORIGIN COUNTRY TO LIMA (161 MASL) – HUARAZ (3100 M)
Arrival in Lima and travel to Huaraz by public bus (8 hours) or flight (50 min). Reception and hotel transfer. Rest is recommended to start acclimatization.
ACCLIMATIZATION: PASTORURI GLACIER (5200 MASL) – WHITE RANGE
Visit carbonated waters, Puyas Raimondi, and hike to the Pastoruri glacier. Return to Huaraz.
HUARAZ (3100 M) – VAQUERIA – PARIA (3900 MASL)
Transfer passing through Llanganuco lagoons and Portachuelo pass (4760m). Start of trekking in Vaquería to Paria camp.
PARIA (3900M) - TAULLIPAMPA (4250 MASL)
Hike through Huaripampa valley to Punta Unión pass (4,750 masl). Views of Taulliraju and Santa Cruz canyon.
TAULLIPAMPA (4250M) - LLAMACORAL (3760 MASL)
Descent through Santa Cruz valley. Detour to Alpamayo base camp and visit to Arhuaycocha lagoon (4460m).
LLAMACORAL (3760M) - CASHAPAMPA (2900 MASL) - HUARAZ
Final descent through the valley along Yurakmayu river to Cashapampa village. Transfer back to Huaraz hotel.
TRANSFER TO TERMINAL OR AIRPORT
Transfer from hotel to bus terminal or airport for return trip to Lima. End of services.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENT: We strongly recommend performing the Pastoruri acclimatization day to enjoy the Punta Union pass (4750m) without altitude issues.
