Expeditionary Itinerary
CUSCO – CACHORA – CAPULIYOC – CHIKISCA
Departure from Cusco (7:00 am). Visit the Archaeological Park of Piedra de Saywite. Transfer to Capuliyoc for lunch. Start of trekking descending to the Apurimac Canyon to Chikisca.
CHIKISCA – ROSALINAS BEACH – SANTA ROSA – MARAMPATA
Descent to the Apurimac River (Rosalinas Beach). Demanding ascent passing through Santa Rosa to the village of Marampata. Enjoy the Andean sunset.
MARAMPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK – MARAMPATA
Main Day: Exploration of the Choquequirao citadel (Main Plaza, Ceremonial Temple, Terraces, Llama Sector). Lunch on site and return to Marampata.
MARAMPATA – ROSALINAS BEACH – CAPULIYOC – CUSCO
Early descent to the Apurimac River to avoid the heat. Final ascent to Capuliyoc. Transfer back to the Imperial City of Cusco.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Choquequirao has a humid and hot climate in the canyon. Mosquito repellent and proper hydration during the ascents on days 2 and 4 are essential.
