Timeline
CUSCO - LARES - HUACAWASI
Pickup 5:00 am. Travel to Lares crossing the highest point at 4265 masl with views of the Sawasiray and Pitusiray glaciers. Enjoy the Lares hot springs and 4-hour hike to the Huacawasi community.
HUACAWASI - MISKI UNUYOC
Most difficult day. Ascent to Huacawasi Pass (4600 masl) surrounded by llamas and alpacas. Incredible view of Lake Auroray (Blue Lagoon). Camp at Miski Unuyoc (3800m).
MISKYUNUYOC - AGUAS CALIENTES
3-4 hour descent to Yanahuara (2950 masl) in the Urubamba Valley. Train journey from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. Overnight in hostel.
MACHU PICCHU CITADEL
2-hour guided visit in the mysterious Machu Picchu citadel (2360 masl). Free time to explore and return by train to Ollantaytambo and bus to Cusco.
