CORDILLERA REAL TRANSVERSE TREK COTIA - HUAYNA
The Path of the Condors
This trek is considered one of the most beautiful routes in the Cordillera Real. It traverses the massif, allowing you to observe Bolivia's most famous peaks from privileged angles.
Starting at the remote **Laguna Cotia**, the route ascends through high mountain passes, flanks the iconic **Condoriri**, and culminates at the feet of the giant **Huayna Potosi**, offering a total immersion in the Andean glacial landscape.
Daily Chronology
LA PAZ – COTIA LAGOON (3800 M)
Departure in private transport to the heart of the Cordillera Real. Hike to the viewpoint to observe the snowy peaks.
COTIA – CONTADORA PASS – AJUANI
Ascent to Contadora pass (4900m). Scenic descent towards the Ajuani camp.
AJUANI – JANCHANLLANI PASS – JURIKOTA
Crossing the Janchallani pass (4800m). Camp near the turquoise Jurikota lagoon.
JURIKOTA – PICO AUSTRIA (5350 M) – CONDORIRI
Stellar day. Ascent to Pico Austria for 360° views of the range. Descent to the Condoriri base camp.
CONDORIRI – MARIA LLOCO (4720 M)
Crossing the Condoriri pass (5100m). Glacial landscapes and direct views of Huayna Potosi.
MARIA LLOCO – ZONGO PASS – LA PAZ
Final high pass (5100m). Descent to the Huayna Potosi base camp where return transport to La Paz awaits.
LA PAZ – AIRPORT
Transfer to El Alto airport. End of the traverse.
